This past Sunday evening we gathered as a church to pray and celebrate all that God is doing in the life of our church. One of the highlights of this gathering was officially installing Kirk Burtch as an elder (pastor). Throughout the New Testament we see a pattern of a plurality of elders. For instance, in Acts 20:17, Paul calls for the “elders” to come together for a final meeting. In Titus 1:5, he appointed “elders” to lead the church. Therefore, we see the model in the New Testament church to be led by multiple pastors who are each biblically qualified (1 Timothy 3; Titus 1) and gifted to serve the body in specific areas.
Two months ago we put forth Kirk as an elder candidate. In this phase we invited members of Integrity Church to get to know Kirk and bring any encouragements, questions, or concerns to the elders regarding his biblical qualifications. Thankfully, it was an unanimous decision to officially install Kirk as an elder! This past Sunday several people shared testimonies of how God has used both Kirk and, his wife, Linda to impact their lives. It was truly a joy to see so many people blessed by this incredible couple!
Kirk and Linda have been faithfully attending Integrity since 2012. Kirk has been leading a small group since 2013 and has been instrumental in discipling others and helping equip future leaders of Integrity. He and Linda both have displayed incredible hospitality to our body and they are constantly building Gospel community around their home. Kirk has been a great asset to our church family and Pastor Todd and I both believe that he will serve as a great elder to our congregation! We are thankful that Kirk will lead alongside of us. Please take time and encourage Kirk as he transitions to this new role to serve our church.
