New Staff Member: Matt Goetke
Integrity,
As you have probably noticed, we’ve had a new guy leading the music on Sunday mornings. This blog post will help you get to know Matt a little bit better.
Q: Tell us a little about yourself: where you grew up, school, etc
A: I grew up in a small town called Stedman, NC right outside of Fayetteville. Growing up I was all about being outside, playing sports, fishing, and pretending to be a rockstar with my battery operated guitar from the toy store. Once the batteries in my toy guitar died I bought a real one and started learning to play it. Eventually, I would go on to be a Music Industry Studies major with a minor in business at Appalachian State University. I graduated in May 2012.
Q: You recently got married, right?
A:I just got married on June 24! My beautiful wife’s name is Stuart and we met working at a youth camp together called Ft. Caswell in Oak Island, NC. Stuart is about to start her third year of teaching but this year she will be the new Guidance Counselor at Farmville Central High School. We enjoy watching ridiculously cheesy TV shows on Netflix, cooking, golfing, fishing, card games, reading, and anything else that we can laugh at while doing.
Q:What’s your vision for music at Integrity?
A: As I lead worship, the most important thing for me is to help people focus on what Christ did. Worship music in itself should lead people to the cross- that’s what I want for Integrity. My vision for the music here is to see the band members grow in their love for the gospel and their love for leading their church in worship.
Q:Who are your musical and theological influences?
A: I’ve got a wide range of influences:
Music- Dave Barnes, Ben Rector, James Taylor, Marc Broussard, John Mayer, Garth Brooks
Theology- John Piper, J.I. Packer, Mark Driscoll, C.S Lewis
Q: If someone wanted to play in the band, how do they go about that?
A:The best and easiest way to contact me is through email at Matt@liveintegrity.org. If you’re interested in being a part of the band or just want to know more about music at Integrity then just shoot me an email and I’ll answer any questions that you have.
